In January, our third semester (Spring 2007) offered new courses such as “The Gospel of John” by Dr. H. E. Cardin (17 Students) and “Wisdom Literature” by Pastor Jack Anderson of Muncie, IN. (15 Students). The Tomlinson Center participated in the first endeavor of connecting the college students of our constituency globally called “CONNECT 07" <http://www.ccmnetwork.org/>.
In February, the Tomlinson Center worked with the North American Overseers <http://cogop.org/221699.ihtml> during their meeting in Nashville, TN. In North America, we have 84,762 church members, 1,871 local churches and 4,509 licensed ministers.
In March, some of the Tomlinson Center staff participated in the Lee Faculty (CAPS) Seminar that offered training to better meet the needs of our online students. South Carolina was targeted to share a plethora of valuable resources utilizing offering several thousands of dollars worth of resources at your finger tips, most are free. Ministry Helps - <http://www.tomlinsoncenter.com/ministryhelps.htm>. South Carolina has 4,330 members with 123 churches and 214 licensed ministers.
In April, our newly appointed Tomlinson Center Board had the first physical meeting (not counting the various other meetings by phone, Internet, etc.) in Cleveland, TN <http://www.tomlinsoncenter.com/Board.htm>.
The Tomlinson Center Board is comprised of an eclectic, gifted group of Church of God of Prophecy members:
- The chair, Bishop Tim Harper, is the overseer of Michianna Region <http://www.michianacogop.com/>.
- The secretary and director for the Tomlinson Center is Dr. H. E. Cardin from Cleveland, TN <http://tomlinsoncenter.com/>.
- Keith Lambert is an executive member who is a professional attorney as well as a pastor (Newport News - Lakeside) living in Virginia Beach, VA.
- Sophia Smith is our final executive member who serves as the director of Palatka Christian Service Center <http://www.christianvolunteering.org/org/org6558.jsp> as well as co-pastor with her husband living in Palatka, FL.
- Bishop Don Brock is Senior Pastor of our Collinsville, AL church <http://www.harvestcenterchurch.org/>.
- Everton Campbell serves his local church in Gallatin, TN and has a successful insurance business.
- Betty Fisher co-pastors with her husband General Overseer Emeritus Fred S. Fisher, Sr. in Clemson, SC.
- Philip Pruitt is a gifted pastor from Birmingham, AL.
- Elias Rodriguez currently serves as regional overseer of the South Eastern States of North America for the Hispanic work <http://www.regionsur.com/>.
In June and July, as director of the Tomlinson Center, I personally visited youth camps in TN, KY, NC, WV, VA as well as boosted in GA & FL using the Internet with tools such as SKYPE <http://skype.com/>. In August 22, Fall 2007 classes continued by offering the “Minor Prophets” taught by Pastor Jack Anderson, Jr. (11 students), “The Synoptic Gospels” taught by Dr. H. E. Cardin (13 students), “The Pastoral Epistles” taught by Bishop Tim Harper (8 students) as well as the “Introduction to the Old Testament” also taught by Bishop Tim Harper (6 students).
In September, we participated in the Youth Leadership Training Conference in Kingsport, TN, that had global representation of key youth leaders.We are in the first phase of the Tomlinson Center with our online presence. Phase two will involve offer intensives on our former Tomlinson College campus (Cleveland, TN) as well as abroad. Phase three plans to offer classes on our local campus on a regular basis.
